On a rainy Monday evening at Media City, the BBC opened it’s doors to an amazing group of northern power women. It was a cross-generational group from all levels of experience: entrepreneurs, financial specialists, chief executives and people just starting out in organisations.
We were welcomed by Nina Goswami, project director, and the BBC team to learn about The 50:50 Project, a collective focused on increasing women’s representation in BBC content and programming. With more than 500 teams across the BBC involved, the project aims to inspire and assistant media organisations to equally represent women and men in their content.
After an introduction from Northern Power Women founder Simone Roche MBE and Nina, we were put into groups and given a tour of the different BBC studios – an insight into what happens behind the scenes of some of the outlets that inform us the most.
