GAMIFICATION as a Development Tool for Management & Leadership


Learning through play has been the cornerstone of our development since childhood. Education systems around the world utilise game mechanics to make learning fun and help learners to retain knowledge. Businesses are tapping into gamification to enhance the learning experience.
Gamification works by encouraging users to engage in desired behaviours, by showing a path to mastery, and by taking advantage of our human psychological predisposition to engage in gaming.
Traditional classroom learning programmes focus on increasing the knowledge and skills of participants. Online learning tools that include game mechanics are used to make acquiring knowledge more engaging. With both traditional and online learning, the lack of application strategies means that learning and training often fails to transfer to the workplace.
Thinking Focus became so convinced of the power that gamification has to change behaviour, that when faced with a particular client challenge in 2017, they developed a gamification resource called ‘What Would You Do?’
