Manages and responds to general employee relations inquiries and non-high risk ethics concerns independently. Will conduct limited scope / lower-risk investigations. May serve as partner to senior team members on complex or high-risk matters. Can perform non-high risk ER work and other project work fairly autonomously from senior team members.
Works directly with senior team members to address general employee relations issues raised by managers or employees. Escalates high-risk employee issues and employee workplace incidents and/or security threats to more senior team members and may partner with the team to investigate and provide resolution. Initiates contact with legal counsel and executive/senior management as needed and by agreement with senior ER staff. Accurately assesses the level of legal intervention needed, especially in cases of employee termination. May coordinate or be involved, when necessary, on termination situations with other involved parties and may present evidence for termination. Responds to medium risk ER issues and ethics cases. Responsible for determining the appropriate response and coordinating with the appropriate parties when action is required independently or with limited guidance.
Serves as a resource and advises on general/basic policy application and process/practice implementation.
Senior role within the team – one of two senior specialists in an EMEA team of seven.
Required to provide a point of excellence across a remit of complex employee relations activities.
Experienced in managing end to end processes across a range of employee relations cases, through to successful conclusion.
Required to work/support on EMEA and global policy development and other ad hoc employee relations projects.
• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Previous relevant work experience required. Experience in Employee Relations or in an HR advisor role is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with various stakeholders and partners, including HR and Legal colleagues
• Must have sound employment law knowledge across:
o UK - essential
o Ireland - desirable
o Continental Europe - desirable
• Previous background in HR desired, but not essential
• Must have experience across a wide remit of employee relations activities, including complex cases
• Must be able to manage a full workload spanning a variety of casework
